What is Datacasting?
Datacasting is an RSS-based technology for
accessing Earth Science information. With Datacasting, data providers
can reach untold numbers of users using standards compliant technology.
Although a Datacasting feed can be viewed with any off the shelf RSS
reader, the real power of Datacasting is unleashed when combined with
the Datacasting Feed
Reader. Some benefits of using the Feed Reader include:
- Subscribe to RSS, GeoRSS and DatacastingRSS
- Filter any feed based on user-customizable criteria
- Download linked data files to your disk automatically or on-demand
- View and filter location information for GeoRSS and DatacastingRSS feeds
Through these unique features, the Datacasting Feed Reader
enables users to quickly locate and download data that fits their exact
needs.
For more information about how Datacasting can help you analyze the
Earth, or if you are a data provider and wish to provide a valuable
service to the Earth Science community, please read more at the Documentation site.
